Getting To Know Me

Hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving and didn't overeat too much. lol I had a nice quiet day at home watching TV & doing some stitching. My DS & DDIL invited me to go with them to my DDIL's aunt's home, but I preferred to spend the day at home. I had a turkey dinner delivered by our local Knights of Columbus (they do this every year for the elderly & needy people in our town).

I received an email from Meari & Glenda and decided to answer in my blog rather than sending emails to everyone. So here goes.....

Welcome to the Christmas edition of getting to know your friends. Okay, here's what you're supposed to do, and try not to be a SCROOGE!!!

Just copy this entire email and paste into a new email that you can send. Change all the answers so that they apply to you. Then send this to a whole bunch of people you know, INCLUDING the person that sent it to you.

1. Wrapping paper or gift bags? Either/Both

22. Most annoying thing about this time of the year? All the build up about the "wonderful & happy" family gatherings, blah-blah-blah (which don't happen in the real world), greediness, commercialism, and my depression being worse during this time of year
23. Favorite ornament theme or color? blue and silver (just like Glenda), but really love all the homemade items (esp cross stitch)
24. Favorite for Christmas dinner? Ham with all the fixings
25. What do you want for Christmas this year? Peace throughout the world and for the economy to get better, people to get jobs again & stop losing their homes.
26. Who is most likely to respond to this? Have no clue whatsoever

PS - I'm adding one last item to this list. What am I looking forward to in 2009? Seeing an end to the reign of King George & all his cronies!!!!! Yes, there is finally a light at the end of the tunnel and I can have hope for the future again. Bout time!!!

Today's mail & tomorrow's race

I received my Lizzie Kate ornament exchange today from Mary.  Just look at all the goodies she included in my package.  Love the LK design she chose to stitch for me and she included my favorite color of DMC light effects floss.  The Star De-Tailor will come in very handy and I'm thrilled with the platinum needles.  I've been wanting to try them for sometime now.

Tomorrow is the final Nascar race and I'll be cheering for Jimmie Johnson to win his 3rd championship.
Go 48!!!!!

Finished my 1st Flatfold

Here it is - my 1st flatfold - thanks to Meari's tutorial.  I am so excited about how it turned out.  Now I want to make a flatfold for myself.

This is a new Lizzie Kate design (Don't Get Your Tinsel in a Tangle) that I stitched on 14ct dirty aida linen and used DMC threads.  I made this for a group exhange of Lizzie Kate Christmas designs and will be mailing it out tomorrow.  I'm sure the person won't see my blog, so I can safely post the pic today.

I've also stitched this 2nd Lizzie Kate design (Joy) and finished it into an ornament for this exchange.

I've been busy wrapping presents for the group advent exchange and have the box ready to mail.  Just waiting for delivery of one item that was back ordered and will be arriving within the next couple of days.  I've already received my box of goodies and am anxious for December 1st to get here, so I can begin opening the gifts.

And I need to decide what design to use for stitching this year's Christmas ornament for my grandgirl.  So that's it for now.  Thanks for visiting my blog and have a great week.

I've been tagged!

I've been tagged by Beth.

The rules are as follows:

1. Link to the person who tagged you.

2. Post the rules on your blog.

3. Write six random things about yourself.

4. Tag six people at the end of your post.

5. Let each person know that they have been tagged by leaving a comment on their blog.

6. Let the tagger know your entry is up.

6 random things about myself:

1. My last cigarette was at 11:55pm on September 12, 1994.

2. My first pet was a stray cat, Whitey.  I was married with 2 children when we took him in.  I never had a pet as a child - my mother wouldn't allow any.

3. I took accordian lessons for 4 1/2 years as a youngster.

4. I won a trip to Acapulco in 1977 from a Chicago radio station, WLS.

5. While in Acapulco, I went parasailing - in spite of my fear of heights.
6. I startle quite easily and so absolutely hate being frightened.

The people I have tagged are:
EVERYONE who reads this, since most of the blogs I read have already been tagged.  LOL
Have a great day!

The votes have been counted - and IT'S OVER!!!

Finally, the campaigning is finished.  Stick a fork in it - it's done!!!!!  I'm thrilled to see it come to an end.  Congrats to our country and all those who won in the election.  I so hope our country can come together and begin to solve all the challenges we are facing.
And now, for some stitching updates.
I can finally post pics of the 3 squares I stitched for a quilt for my online friend, Jeneen.  I thoroughly enjoyed stitching for her and she is thrilled with her quilt.  Even though I didn't do the quilting, I'm going to post the picture to show how very lovely it turned out (congrats to Linda for doing such a beautiful job of quilting).
I wish everyone a good week and thank you for visiting my blog.  A special thanks to those who leave comments.  They are so very appreciated.

WIP update

Here's my progress so far on my Mystery SAL from Tonia at OakHaven Designs.  I'm stitching this on 14ct Zweigart Mint Damask Aida and using DMC floss.  Many of the other stitchersin the group are nearly finished with theirs, but I am slow.  Anyway, I'm enjoying this project - IF the frogs will stay away for awhile.  I've miscounted many times and had to rip-it, rip-it, rip-it and then re-stitch (and I've only completed the first 2 parts out of the 15 parts in total.  Now, I've gotta get caught up on my SanMan SAL.
