The Owl & The Pussycat

This is my square for the nursery rhyme theme quilt for CSFC. It is the 1871 bedtime story "The Owl & The Pussycat" by Edward Lear. Here's a link to the story:
In short, the story is about an owl and pussycat that went to sea in a pea-green boat (taking along some honey and money). The owl played a small guitar and sang to the pussycat. They decided to marry but had to sail for a year and a day to a place where a piggy with a ring at the end of his nose lived. They bought the ring from the pig and were married the next day by the turkey who lived on the hill. They dined and then went hand in hand to the edge of the sand and danced by the light of the moon.
It is such a fun story and is a must read for all the rhyming in it. The link above has the story, information about the author, and vocabulary meanings of some of the words in the story. Hope you enjoy reading it. I really enjoyed stitching the square.

Those squares are great. I had never heard this story before. Cute squares and will look great on the Nursery Rhyme Quilt.
